Happy 2016, you guys!! Can you believe we've made it this far? Ha! I took a quick break from the blog to relax and spend time with family over the holidays but now we're back to the grind! I hope you've been keeping up with me on Instagram and Snapchat @bruntunes.

I'm continually ever so happy and grateful for all the support and love all of you sent my way in 2015 – it was by far the best year for StyleMile (and for me!) ever. From having dinner with Lena Dunham in Hollywood, to going backstage with Meghan Trainor, to being featured in Marie Claire magazine, it's been quite a ride. I'm hoping to only go up from here!

2016 is going to bring big things for me – mine and Pedro's wedding is less than 5 months away! Next month I'm jet-setting to an unknown location with my co-workers at Ignite Social Media. Our Mystery Trip location is only revealed at the airport! :O We all have bets – I'm mostly just hoping for sunshine and tequila.

I'm also attending NYFW for the first time in February (OMG!) so stay tuned for coverage! And in April, I'm heading down to Miami with my besties for my bachelorette party, my 27th birthday, and being overall anxious for our June wedding date – luckily Miami does have plenty of margaritas!

I can't wait to watch this year unfold and I would love to hear from you about your big 2016 plans. Are you sticking to your resolutions? Give me the scoop! Either way, I hope this year brings you just as much joy (and tequila) as it's shaping up to bring me. <3

Port: Feliz 2016, gentchyyy!!

HIPPIE RE(S)OLUTIO

I had another post set aside for this, but with the latest events that still have yet to completely unfold, I thought I’d ask some questions instead.

What is going on? When did we all collectively agree to make the world such a dark place to live in? When did we close the door to compassion? Why did we forget to say “hello” or even “thank you”?

Remember what The mothereffin’ Beatles said. "Imagine all the people, sharing all the world." SHARING. Not killing. Bombing. Bullying. Hurting. Saddening. Disappointing.

I don’t know the answers to any of those questions. It’s hard to pinpoint how we got here. There are so many smart, talented, beautiful, absolutely inspiring people walking around, and yet we can only seem to focus on what (we think) is wrong with them. Maybe they were born somewhere you’ve never been. Or their skin has more dpi than yours (nerd). Maybe you both like girls, but you might not be the same below the belt.

Big deal. None of that matters. We - humans - are all the same. Deep inside, we all want the same thing: just to live freely, to love, and to learn more about ourselves.

So thinking upon all of this, I have realized that we need to take a page from history not too far from our own. We are in desperate need of another hippie revolution.

Don’t get me wrong here. Being a hippie is not a matter of dress, behavior, economic status, or social context. It is a philosophical approach to life that emphasizes freedom, peace, love and a respect for others and the earth.

We need to transcend everything that holds us back, that keeps us from our core function: being someone. Forget politics, religions, social norms. Let go. Lose control. It’s when we try to seize control again forcefully that things go bad. People get shot even though you “have your permit to pack heat.” Even though you’ve “done three tours,” families were still torn to pieces because a country tried to overrule all others. Even though you “watched the news,” you still got the wrong information and pointed a finger at the mother of four at the grocery store, because she wore a hijab.

It’s time to stop looking away. Because only without apathy, can we continue to live. It’s time to live; not survive. Imagine that.

Hello StyleMile readers, are you still there-ere-ere-ere?

I know it’s been a while - but life happens when you’re trying to blog. I hope 2013 has been treating you all well enough already. Guess what I’ve been up to? Work, work, and a little more work. It’s swallowing me whole, I barely have enough time to even get dressed every morning, let alone take photos of what I’ve worn.

I can hardly believe January is already making its way out the door - where did the time go? It makes you think about all the little things you might be overlooking while you’re waiting for the clock to strike 5:30 so you can go home and lay on the couch until the alarm goes off the next morning.

Today I paired these Express Jeans with a thrifted sweater (similar) and my Old Navy booties. For a big pop of color, this emerald green Old Navy peacoat and my new Kate Spade bag (similar). And can we talk about how adorable the Bianca Collar from Jewelmint (similar) is?

Yes, ladies and gents. I’m back (yet again).
