VLOG: Adventures in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

What happens when you work for a company that takes "Work Hard Play Hard" really seriously? You get to go on an annual Ignite Social Media Mystery Trip to a secret location in the world with all your bestie co-workers. So when Feb. 27th rolled around, we all headed to the airport at 4:30am and waited patiently to open the manila envelopes that held our destination. 3, 2, 1 and ta-da! Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic it was – The Ocean Blue and Sand Resort, to be exact.

For the next 3 days, we soaked up the sun (some of us a little too much). Along with sleep deprivation, I packed my bag full of pretty bathing suits, cover-ups, and beauty essentials plenty.

I love that even on vacation, I was able to revamp my beauty routine. Products from the Meijer Beauty Aisle helped me refresh my look and keep my skin and hair healthy with all the sun, salt and sand! Check out my faves below!

Confira meus favoritos abaixo!

Some of my Meijer faves I made sure to bring in my bag.

Get my beauty faves at meijer:

// Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunblock: Lightweight and provides hydration for after-sun care
// TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Hair Maximizer: Kept my hair bouncy, frizz under control, with added smoothness and manageability.
// Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipstick in Seduction: Loved the natural color and the matte-ness didn't dry my lips.
// Physician's Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer: Because every tan looks better with a glow!

Airplane shots are a bit kitschy, but that water is like a screensaver. *heart eyes*

These new kicks from Forever 21 were appropriate for the tropical location! The mask was a gift to all of us so we could celebrate Dominican Carnaval!

One of our outside excursions – Catamaran, Snorkeling and Natural Pool Party!

Clear the oceans. I'm manning a boat.

The catamaran was too small for almost all of us! Nobody puts Ignite Social Media in the corner.

Enhance your tan

// Jergens Natural Glow: Primer and Lotion – I'm a fan of giving your natural tan a little boost! I slather in sunscreen so I don't get burnt, but that means I may not get as tan either. This duo will do the trick: First prime to clean off any unwanted skin cells then apply self-tanner for that natural-looking boost. Get it from Meijer.

Reppin' Detroit in the DR!

Protect yourself

Obviously, the threat of the zika virus is still very serious. Going to a Latin American location, we were told ahead of time (which kinda spoiled the surprise a little but not enough) to prep for the mosquitoes with an insect repellent that includes Picaridin – an ingredient that is better at fighting the zika-ridden mosquitoes. I protected my skin with Avon Skin-So-Soft Bug Guard Plus Picaridin! They also make Wipes, which is convenient if you're not checking a bag.

I also protected my newly lightened hair – You can grab John Frieda's Sheer Blonde "Go Blonder" Shampoo and Conditioner at Meijer. The water, sun and other elements may do some damage to colored hair, so this shampoo and conditioner made sure my highlights stayed in great shape.

How is this real?

I'm on the right, parasailing on a breast cancer ribbon parachute – which is pretty amazing.

I insisted on watching the last sunrise on the beach. I was alone, and it was incredible.

And our last sunset was spent on a catamaran – can't beat that.

We may have left Punta Cana, but Punta Cana is never leaving us. <3

Punta Cana was absolutely stunning! The water is the bluest I've ever seen in my life, the people are so kind and the fun is kind of never-ending. I can't wait to go back – but next stop in the Caribbean will be Tulúm, Mexico, in August for our honeymoon! Looking forward to that one like CRAZY as well.

Have you ever been to either of these, or any other spots in the Caribbean? Share your best tips and tricks below!

My first (crazy) NYFW

Bruna Camargo

HIT PLAY TO WATCH THE VLOG:

My first NYFW was definitely a crazy one. I spent a lot of time jetting back and forth between NYC and Detroit, and you can see that in the vlog right up here! Did you check it out yet? There was an appointment I couldn't miss at home, but at the same time I had to be in New York for work. So I had to become two people and be in two places at once – easy peasy, right?

Go Red For Women is the client we work for at Ignite Social Media and they asked us to be at their annual fashion show, Red Dress Collection. It kicked off NYFW on Thursday Feb. 11th, when multiple celebrities put on designer red dresses to bring awareness to all the women affected by heart disease and stroke in America. It was wonderful to be a part of it and be able to be backstage documenting everything. You can watch a video of the entire Red Dress Collection fashion show here.

On Friday, Feb. 12th, I went to the Nicole Miller Show on behalf of Styleshack. I did an Instagram takeover for them that you can check out here. It was wonderful to sit front row and see all the action from up close! I had a standing ticket but I got lucky enough to snag a seat in the front row. ;)

Certinho.

8 Coachella tips and tricks you need to know

Bruna Camargo

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, AKA Coachella, is just around the corner. Last year I went and had the time of my life, despite having been closer to strangers' bodily functions than one should ever hope to be. Although I got lost from my friends on occasion and obviously had flash-forwards of my life as a desert nomad from that moment on, I SURVIVED!

I made a vlog highlighting some of my favorite moments of the trip. Managing to get through the weekend without any major injuries, damages, and/or contracting any airborne viruses was a feat in and of itself. Scroll down for 8 tips and tricks you need to know before you go to Coachella 2015.

COACHELLA SURVIVAL GUIDE

1. Figure out what you're gonna wear before even getting on the plane. I mean who's got the time to flip through an over packed suitcase when you're hungover at 7:47am and trying to make the shuttle from Palm Springs before the Flower Crown Parade gets on.

2. Get comfortable.  This is such a duh. You're gonna be sitting on grass and on grass in more ways than one (even if you're not down with the herbs like me, it's in the air, sorry, #dealwithit) so don't wear a short skirt or something that will have you unwillingly sharing your hooha with the whole stage crew of Neutral Milk Hotel.  Shorts are your friends.

3. Leave the designers. You may think wearing a Chanel crossbody would look totes cute with your outfit, especially since Alessandra Ambrosio is probably gonna be there, but guess what? That weird dude with dreadlocks will spill his beer on it. The port-o-potty will infest the leather with its lush scent of poop and chemicals. And you will get sand in places one should never get sand. Swear on Coco.

4. Be culturally respectful. Unless you have at least 1/8 Cherokee or Navajo (or any other Native Americanness) in you, leave the headdress behind. Also its called the MOJAVE tent (MOE-HAH-VEE) not Moe-jave (as in jive).

5. Cover your entire foot. Flip-flops, sandals, flats, loafers, crocs will all make you miserable and exposed to the elements (i.e. sand, heat, human bodily waste). And the moment the girls who got too drunk at the Lana Del Rey show and start jumping (?) to Summertime Sadness,” your toes will be in imminent danger.

6. Bring a hoodie and a bandana.  It gets cold at night and there are sandstorms - cover your airways. Keep them in a locker (also, get a locker).

7. Wear sunglasses. Youre in the desert. You just paid $500+ to see that obscure band that was in that soundtrack of that indie movie from half a mile back. The least you can do for yourself is try not to squint in the sun.

8. Pace yourself. I know the quote times never wasted when youre wasted,” or some other hippie crap like that. Um, unless you have someone banking your entire trip, dont get too ahead of yourself with whatever your choice fun-enhancer is, or you will sleep/vomit away your day. Also, you may end up on Fried Chicks at Coachella” or something with a boob hanging out of your crochet crop top (not from personal experience).

9. Make friends in line. You'll be in line a lot. To get in, to go to the bathroom, to get water, waiting for a show, waiting for the shuttle, walking out of the venue, waiting by the lockers. Be friendly and open-minded. The best part of Coachella is meeting people from all over the world from all walks of life. You never know when you'll run out of hand sanitizer and what your new Australian buddies have in their bags.

DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN. And document that shit.
You will love looking back on those special moments when you were drunk near the Kanye West hologram.

Português:

O Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, AKA Coachella, está logo ali!
