FASHION IN DETROIT 2014: Motorcity Grind
Bruna Camargo
Last Saturday September 27, I had the pleasure of attending Fashion In Detroit! The night was long but I didn't even notice. Packed-full of fashion, it kept everyone glued to the edge of their seats - waiting for the next show to start.
From local Detroit designers to major international names, I was so enthralled in the fashion I finally understood the excitement of Fashion Week - not that I didn't know before, but when you're sitting catwalk-side and can smell the leather, it puts it all into a whole new perspective. And I've said it before, but I'll say it again: Detroit's fashion scene is getting hotter by the second (must be that Motorcity grind).
Port: No sábado passado, dia 27 de setembro, eu fui no desfile Fashion In Detroit.

The event took place at Sound Board, which operates as a nightclub inside MotorCity Casino. The atmosphere was chic, cool and edge - bringing out the essence of Detroit to every collection.
Fashion In Detroit showcased many up-and-coming designers, but the real star of the night was Project Runway alumn Joe Faris, whose Dodge-inspired collection turns car junkies into style icons. “We’re celebrating Dodge’s 100-year-old history,” he says. “We want to romanticize it and showcase it in the clothing. I’m really all about true classic American fashion design and heavy zippers.”
In an effort to work with Detroit auto manufacturers, Faris says that he has been granted a license with Chrysler to create an Imported from Detroit line. While that clothing line is set to launch next year, his recent collaboration with Dodge made a grand appearance on the Fashion in Detroit runway. "I've morphed the motorcycle jacket into what you would call the ultimate 'car coat' using automotive influences. It's all my aesthetic. Rock 'n' roll, motorcycles, and cars."
CAN'T WAIT FOR MY NEXT SHOW! What was your favorite piece pictured in this post? Chime in the comments!
